MANILA, Philippines — The Supreme Court on Wednesday ordered the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to desist from holding the plebiscites for the new Bangsamoro municipalities scheduled on September 7 and 21, 2024.
The Comelec issued Resolution Nos. 11011 and 11012 last July 8 that called for the plebiscites to ratify the creation of new municipalities in the province of Maguindanao del Norte in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao pursuant to Bangsamoro Autonomy Act No. 53 and Bangsamoro Autonomy Act Nos. 54 and 55.
