MANILA, Philippines — The Chinese Embassy in Manila slammed the United States and other countries for siding with the Philippines in the incident in the South China Sea (SCS) on Aug. 19, 2024 and for allegedly sowing discord and fueling tensions in the region.

The US condemned the "dangerous actions" by China against the lawful Philippine maritime operations in the SCS on Monday dawn that left two Philippine Coast Guard ships--BRP Bagacay and BRP Cape Engano--damaged.
