Halting the exodus of Filipino teachers overseas

THE exodus of Filipino public schoolteachers to work abroad has become a pressing concern. Education Secretary Juan Edgardo Angara himself has taken notice and has swiftly formed an education cluster to address the issue from a multi-sectoral perspective.

This migration is not just a symptom of individual ambition, for which we cannot begrudge our teachers who only want a better life for themselves and their families. It also reflects deeper systemic issues within our education system.
