MANILA, Philippines — The low pressure area (LPA) spotted off northern Luzon that developed into a tropical storm late Sunday has been named "Dindo," the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Monday.

Weather specialist Robert Badrina said the tropical storm was estimated some 635 kilometers northeast of Itbayat, Batanes, packing maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph.
