Bolts dump Hotshots, kick off Season 49 on high note

MANILA, Philippines — Meralco came out with a better second half effort before holding off Magnolia Chicken Timplados' last-minute push to score a 99-94 victory, marking the opening of the PBA Season 49 Governors' Cup on a high note Sunday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The Bolts gained separation following a tight first half, outscoring the Hotshots, 31-24 in the third canto to grab a 74-63 lead.
