The primary purpose of defending even the worst criminals is to ensure that the principle of due process is rigorously applied. This means that every accused person, regardless of the severity of their alleged crimes, receives a fair trial. Yet, it is crucial to understand that when lawyers defend those accused of serious crimes, they are not endorsing or condoning the alleged actions of their clients.
