Hasina supporters beaten after rally call

(UPDATE) DHAKA — A mob wielding bamboo rods and plastic pipes beat several suspected supporters of Sheikh Hasina on Thursday, vowing to quash a rumored rally for Bangladesh's ousted premier outside her childhood home.

Hasina, 76, fled by helicopter last week to neighboring India as student-led protests flooded the streets of the capital Dhaka in a dramatic end to her ironfisted 15-year rule.
