Two-time Olympian pole vaulter Ernest John "EJ" Obiena said the Philippine team's performances in recent Olympic Games in Tokyo and Paris are a "golden era" in the country's sporting history.

Returning back to Italy after a brief stay in the country, Obiena attributed the country's success to the gold medals won by weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz in Tokyo and gymnast Carlos Yulo in Paris.
