DIPLOMATIC relations between India and the Philippines were formally established on Nov. 26, 1949. The year 2019 marked 70 years of diplomatic relations between the two nations.

Relations between India and the Philippines have been friendly and problem-free. However, despite historical shared values and commonalities such as anti-colonialism, South-South cooperation, a strong democratic polity, an independent judiciary and press, and the wide use of the English language, the full potential of the relationship between the two countries was yet to be attained.
