CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro — The municipal council of the southern town of Roxas passed a resolution calling for a congressional inquiry into the "exorbitant rate of electricity being charged by the Oriental Mindoro Electric Cooperative (Ormeco) and the frequent brownouts experienced by consumers."
The council passed Resolution 537, Series of 2024, requesting 1st District Rep. Arnan Panaligan and 2nd District Rep. Alfonso Umali, Jr. to launch an inquiry in aid of legislation and look into the high power rates and the outages that are causing inconveniences to residents and disruption to businesses in the province.
