The political dynasties are alive and well

FIRST THINGS FIRST

A HUGE front-page news headline recently quoted an unnamed judicial official as saying the Supreme Court would require Congress to enact a law defining political dynasties and prohibiting them. This is pursuant to Sec. 26, Article II of the Constitution saying the State shall 'guarantee equal access to opportunity for public service and prohibit political dynasties as may be defined by law.'

We have not heard from the high court since then. Neither have we heard of any proposed legislation from Congress. So, the dynasties are alive and well.
