MANILA, Philippines — A low pressure area (LPA) spotted off extreme Northern Luzon will likely intensify into a tropical depression within 24 hours, the state-run weather agency said on Monday.

The LPA was estimated some 1, 375 kilometers east of the region or inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility, weather specialist Robert Badrina of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
