IN my Ayala Museum lecture entitled "Art as Public History: Discourses on Select Juan Luna Paintings" on March 9, 2024, I showed how Luna, as one of our foremost master painters and patriots, has been influencing public discourse about society. That is why, for many years before the film "Heneral Luna," it was only Juan who was the Luna known to most people as he had basically overshadowed his equally important brother Antonio Luna, general of the Revolution.
