Beijing Declaration: After Haniyeh assassination

In just two years, China has facilitated a breakthrough deal between Saudi Arabia and Iran and Fatah and Hamas. But after the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, prospects for peace are overshadowed by escalation as the Middle East prepares for the next explosion.

ON July 23, 14 Palestinian factions, including rivals Hamas and Fatah, agreed to end their divisions and form an interim national unity government, thanks to Beijing's intermediation.
