'TWAS no coincidence that the revelation of the video supposedly showing President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. sniffing cocaine happened in the United States. For months already, US-based vlogger Maharlika had been announcing a certain video to that effect, taunting audiences with its eventual showing. At a gathering of the Maisug in Los Angeles in the US, the supposed video was finally exhibited.

Bear in mind that Maisug is a movement organized in the wake of the government allowing an investigation by the International Criminal Court (ICC) of the alleged extrajudicial killings committed by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte in his war against illegal drugs. If at all, this necessarily indicated a wedge in the UniTeam voted into power by 31 million Filipinos in the 2021 presidential elections. Certainly, President Bongbong would have had no qualms about using his immense power to prevent the ICC from touching his political ally if he was true to the alliance. That Bongbong allowed the ICC intrusion simply meant Duterte was not only being used as a sacrificial goat for some unidentified big political gain but, worse, also dealt with utter treachery.
