Venice on Aug. 1, 2024 will introduce a limit for tourist groups to 25 people and a ban on the use of loudspeakers to protect the lagoon city and reduce the pressure of mass tourism. In an effort to thin the crowds that throng its canals and alleys, Venice has also introduced a 5 euro tax for daily trippers in April, enforced for a total of 29 days in 2024. The limit for tourist groups was initially planned for June 1, 2024, with Venice to become the world's first city to test the system.
