Hatch falters in men's 100m butterfly in Paris

Jarod Hatch of the Philippines made a quick exit as failed to advance in the men's 100-meter butterfly at the Paris Olympics at Paris La Defense Arena on Friday afternoon (Manila time).
Hatch, who is half American, clocked 54.66 seconds and finished eighth and last in heat 2. He placed at joint 36th overall in the 5-heat, 40-swimmer field.

Only the top 16 advanced to the next round.
Hatch's time is almost two seconds slower than the Philippine record of 52.87 seconds that he himself established at the World Championships in Japan in July last year.
The University of California, Berkeley standout also owns the national record in the 50-meter butterfly at 23.89 seconds during the Southeast Asian Games in Cambodia last year.
