BAGUIO CITY — The Cordillera office of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR-CAR) supports the local government's initiatives to totally ban the use of air guns in the conduct of hunting activities following the declaration of Apayao as a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco) Biosphere Reserve.

DENR-CAR regional executive director Engr. Paquito Moreno said that Apayao Gov. Elias Bulut Jr. and some municipal mayors have already insinuated the proposed enactment of local ordinances that will impose a total ban on the use of air guns for hunting to protect the endangered wildlife species such as the Philippine eagle.
