IN back-to-back SONAs, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. made two popular announcements loudly applauded in the halls of the House of Representatives. One was on smuggling, uttered in the second SONA, and the other was on POGOs in the third SONA.

On smuggling, Marcos said: 'Isa sa mga dahilan ng pagtaas ng presyo ay ang mga smugglers. Napapahamak hindi lang ang mga magsasaka, kundi tayong mga mamimili. Bilang na ang mga araw ng smugglers.' And he said that while he was concurrent agriculture secretary.
