MANILA, Philippines — More than 1,000 schools will delay their opening due to damage caused by the southwest monsoon and Typhoon "Cari," according to the Department of Education.

In its latest bulletin Saturday, the DepEd said affected were 225 schools were in the National Capital Region, 331 schools in Ilocos, 442 in Central Luzon and four schools in the Soccsksargen (South Cotabato, Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani and General Santos City).
