(UPDATE) WASHINGTON — US Vice President Kamala Harris showed a major shift on US Gaza policy Thursday, with the presidential candidate asking Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to finalize a peace deal and stressing that she would not be "silent" on the anguish in the Palestinian territory.
Unlike outgoing President Joe Biden's position of mostly behind-the-scenes pressure on Israel, the vice president said after meeting Netanyahu that it was time to end the "devastating" war.
