Father hacks wife, kids in Zambales

ZAMBALES — A 10-year-old girl and her 8-year-old brother were killed, while another sibling and their mother are in critical condition after their father hacked them with a bolo while they were sleeping inside their house in Iba town early Friday morning.

In a report by Iba Municipal Police Office chief Maj. Rolando Ballon, the victims were identified as Alex Jhen, 10, and Bret Mercado, 8, both residents of Mercado Compound, Purok 2, Lipay-Dingin Panibuatan, Iba, Zambales. Alex Jhen was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician and Bret passed away while being treated at Pres. Ramon Magsaysay Hospital.
