PRESIDENT Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. delivered his third State of the Nation Address (SONA) last Monday, July 22, 2024, at the Batasang Pambansa in Quezon City. For the uninitiated, this is Marcos' third SONA even though he has been in power less than 25 months because presidents deliver their first speech a few days after being inaugurated into office. In effect, in their first SONA, the president talks about the road that lies ahead of them as they begin their term of office, not so much — unless they are inclined to do so — a critique of the previous administration. In the same manner, in their sixth and last SONA, presidents usually deliver their swan song, so to speak, even though they still have 11 months left in power.

July 22 was the occasion of Marcos' third SONA and here are some selected notes I have gathered about it.
