'Carina' intensifies as Signal No. 2 remains over Batanes

MANILA, Philippines — Typhoon 'Carina' continues to intensify while moving northward as the province of Batanes in extreme Northern Luzon remains under Signal No. 2, the state-run weather agency said on Tuesday.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said in its 5p.m. bulletin that the typhoon is moving at 20 kilometers per hour (kph) as its center was last spotted some 325 kms east-northeast of Basco, Batanes.
