MANILA, Philippines — Strong Group took home the Philippines' first William Jones Cup basketball crown since 2019. But coach Charles Tiu believes the rejigged Taiwan-A is one foreign squad that can't be taken for granted in future tournaments.
The Philippine-based squad had to overhaul a seven-point deficit in the regulation play, and had to rely on its local crew when imports Chris McCullough and Tajuan Agee fouled in overtime to escape, 83-79, pocketing the Jones Cup basketball title via an eight-game sweep in the process Sunday night.
