THE response of VP Inday Sara Duterte when asked by a reporter if she would attend the State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. — "I am not attending the SONA. I'm designating myself as the designated survivor" — spawned a whirlwind of criticism and condemnation from lawmakers.
One Senate member said her remark was inappropriate in the context of the SONA. The senator said the VP should not have used it as a joke as it is a bad joke.
