TikTok boosts safety for Filipino users

MY primary concern with any social media platform is security and privacy, so focusing on TikTok is needed. Why? Meltwater's 2024 report shows that 67.9 percent of Filipinos ages 16–64 consider TikTok their most-used social media platform next to Facebook, Messenger, and Instagram.

According to a report by the Reuters Institute, TikTok has recorded the "fastest" growth among social media platforms as a news source for Filipinos. The platform's access to news grew by 21 percent this year, compared to 2 percent in 2020. Considering TikTok's widespread popularity and increasing role as a news source in the Philippines, the platform must prioritize strong security and privacy measures. Users should exercise heightened caution and stay informed about the latest community guidelines to protect their personal information and ensure a safe online experience.
