Pagasa monitors 2 tropical depressions but southwest monsoon to bring rain in parts of PH

MANILA, Philippines — (UPDATE) The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said it was monitoring two tropical depressions on Saturday, both enhancing a southwest monsoon that would bring rain in parts of the country until next week.

In its early morning weather bulletin, the weather bureau said the center of the first storm, named 'Butchoy,' was 545 kilometers from Subic Bay, Zambales or 615 km west of Tanauan City, Batangas. It is moving west-northwestward at 20 kilometers per hour (kph), with maximum sustained winds of 55 km per hour (kph) near the center, and gustiness of up to 70 kph.
