THE Sangguniang Bayan of San Jose, Occidental Mindoro, has placed the town under a state of calamity as recommended by the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council following an African swine fever (ASF) outbreak that has left P31 million in losses to the local hog industry.

Municipal agriculturist Romel Calingasan said on Wednesday that the town is currently categorized as a "red zone" with an estimated loss amounting to P31,382,000.
