CAVITE CITY — The local government here has been placed under a state of calamity three days ago after a massive fire broke out in two barangay (villages) that affected thousands of families and destroyed hundreds of homes on Sunday afternoon.

Based on the recommendation of City Mayor Denver Chua, and the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, resolution was approved on the 29th Regular Session of the city council, declaring state of calamity in the city of Cavite due to the affected families of the fire incident in Barangay 5 and 7.
