A FEW days ago, the mainstream press bannered a front-page story saying the Supreme Court would compel Congress to pass a law defining political dynasties for the purpose of prohibiting them. It is not clear who exactly issued the statement and to whom it was particularly directed.

But it was supposedly intended to implement Section 26 Article II of the Constitution, which provides that the State "shall guarantee equal access to opportunities for public service, and prohibit political dynasties as may be defined by law."
