CANBERRA — Australia is facing an unprecedented threat from three different bird flu strains, experts from the country's science agency warned on Monday.

Debbie Eagles and Frank Wong from the Australian Center for Disease Preparedness at the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization said three strains of the highly pathogenic H7 avian influenza have been detected on the island continent this year.
