THE drafters of Republic Act (RA) 11934, or the Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) Card Registration Act of 2022 — acclaimed as "the government's latest initiative to provide a safer space to Filipino mobile subscribers" — and relevant regulatory agencies of government have miserably failed the Filipino people, and even foreigners sojourning or doing business in the Philippines.

This law, proudly referred to as among the first enacted measures under President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s administration, mandates us to register our postpaid and prepaid SIM cards with our respective telecommunications providers, or telcos, to promote responsibility and accountability in using them.
