TUGUEGARAO CITY — The Department of Environment and Natural Resources in Cagayan Valley tagged a rescued green sea turtle (Chelonia mydas) before releasing it back to sea on Friday in Gonzaga, Cagayan.
Rene Flores, a fisherman in Barangay Batangan, reported to the Gonzaga local government that he accidentally caught the turtle while fishing within the municipal waters using his round-haul seine (sapyaw) fishnet at 2 a.m. on July 5.
