Adaptation and adoption in Canada

FOR citizens of Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the USA, and the United Kingdom, bringing a non-biological child by adoption is usually through international adoption pursuant to the 1980 Hague Convention, which was concluded on May 29, 1993.

The US offers an exception to the Hague process if the citizen or lawful permanent resident parent/s are adopting orphans, initially through a transition period, then the orphan process.
