Speakers are Department of Justice Senior State Counsel Fretti Ganchoon and former Associate Justice Antonio Carpio (2001 to 2019) of the Supreme Court. Their discussions are titled "South China Sea arbitration: Procedure, history and importance" and "Philippine island territories in the West Philippine Sea," respectively.

A photo exhibit, featuring images from the West Philippine Sea by Paul Quiambao, including cartographic treasures from the NLP, entitled "Pag-asa sa Gitna ng Kalayaan" will also be inaugurated.

In celebration of the 8th-year anniversary of the Arbitral Award from the Arbitral Tribunal at the Hague this month, and with the West Philippine Sea events escalating, this lecture series is a must-attend for those who seek to understand the country's rights and maritime entitlements in the West Philippine Sea, as provided in the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, and clarify its history.

The NHCP is the national government agency mandated to promote Philippine history through its museums, research and publications as well as to preserve historical heritage through conservation and the marking of historic sites and structures.
