THE announcement this week that the governments of the Philippines and China are strengthening their cooperation in the fight against crimes involving the so-called Philippine offshore gaming operators or POGOs is very encouraging. We believe that this news offers hope that the irredeemable social pestilence these enterprises have been, almost from the moment of their inception, may soon disappear, and it could lead to other improvements in the sometimes-fraught relationship between our two countries.
