Longer sentences matter on occasions like these. She could have said something like, "Thank you for the opportunity to serve the people in my stint as the Department of Education secretary. In my two-year tenure, I have accomplished the following..." A list of her good deeds would have reminded the people of what she had done. Malacañang could then have given a longer response: "We thank the vice president for her service at the Department of Education, and we look forward to working with her in the Office of the Vice President."
