JUST a few years after the first Shoemart (SM) mall opened its doors, its founder, the late "Tatang" Henry Sy, extended his vision beyond building one establishment. He believed people's access to products was important, but Filipinos' access to quality education was priceless.

SM North EDSA opened in 1985, starting the chain of malls. In 1991, Sy turned his vision into a reality through a milestone partnership between SM Foundation Inc. and IBM Philippines.
