CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro — Cases of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infections that causes acquired immunodeficiency syndrome is rising in the Mimaropa (Mindoro Occidental and Oriental, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) region, the Department of Health (DoH) said.

In the weekly "Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas" facilitated by the Philippine Information Agency, the DoH Regional office said that there were 2,071 cases of HIV infections from January 1988 to April 2024 of which 130 cases were detected only from January to April this year.
