THE design community is keenly waiting for the announcement of the winners of the Good Design Award (GDA) Philippines 2024, which will be held on June 29 at the Globe Tower, Bonifacio Global City. With the Final Jury Deliberations taking place at the beginning of the month, the biennial award defines "good Filipino design" not only in terms of excellence in form and function but also according to innovation, positive user experience, and "malasakit."

The "Malasakit" criterion refers to design that contributes to reaching the UN Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG) and cultivates socially responsible solutions. For example, the 2022 Malasakit Awardee, "CocoPatch," gained the highest accolade for sustainability and prioritizing human factors and ergonomics. This product developed by PatchMed Cosmetic Trading was based on the premise that the humble coconut can help in the healing and protection from wounds.
