Japan tops Netherlands, takes first win in VNL Manila leg

MANILA, Philippines — Japan took its first win in the Men's Volleyball Nations League (VNL) Manila leg after defeating the Netherlands, 25-18, 25-19, 25-20, at the Mall of Asia Arena on Friday.

Banking on Yuji Nishida's strong service game, the Japanese denied the Dutch from pulling away as they erased a 6-11 deficit with a 10-1 run to seize a 16-12 advantage and take control for the rest of the way.
