CENTRAL Luzon has contributed 18 percent to the total national production of rice with 3.63 million metric tons of the crop in 2023, keeping its tag as the rice granary of the Philippines.

During the fourth episode of the "Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas" of the Philippine Information Agency, Department of Agriculture (DA) Officer in Charge and Regional Executive Director Eduardo Lapuz Jr. said that the region also topped in onion production, contributing 55 percent to the national output last year.
