Aside from one game at a time, there are also other sports cliches. There is Rasheed Wallace's classic quote 'Both teams played hard' and there is also the greeting, 'may the best team win.'

The NBA Playoffs are designed to make sure that the best team, not the luckiest team, won. That's why it's a best of seven series, not just a one-game winner take all. Even the best teams will have their bad days, but they can recover, and come back stronger.
