Thailand set to approve same-sex marriage

BANGKOK, Thailand — Thai lawmakers met Tuesday to vote on legalizing same-sex marriage, putting the kingdom on the cusp of becoming the first Southeast Asian nation to recognize marriage equality.

The senate upper house is expected to approve the legislation, after which it will go to King Maha Vajiralongkorn for royal assent and come into force 120 days after publication in the official Royal Gazette.
