PHILIPINE offshore gaming operators, or POGOs, have now become the focus of congressional investigation. These are gambling activities operating in the Philippines but with clients mostly in China. Most don't understand that while these POGOs employ Filipinos, the majority of their workers are Chinese.
Curiously enough, the Chinese government has expressed its disapproval of such practice. The Chinese government claims to be against all forms of gambling, including online platforms. It is clear that these POGOs cannot exist in China but are attracted to undertake their activities in the Philippines because of more lax policies against gambling. In the country, they can continue operating their business by corrupting regulatory bodies mandated to supervise them.
