JUDGMENT has been rendered in the case of the 2020 murder of Bayawan City councilor Alex "Inday" Diamante Tizon: the two accused have been acquitted and ordered released. Tizon, a retired policeman, was shot dead by riding in tandem near his house on the morning of Feb. 18, 2020.
The murder of Tizon is one of countless extrajudicial killings in Bayawan City and Negros Oriental. Tizon was an ally of the murdered late governor Roel Degamo and a staunch critic of 3rd District Rep. Arnolfo Teves. As far as I know, this is one of the few cases of extrajudicial killings that reached the court.
