MANILA, Philippines — Chris Newsome buried the go-ahead basket with 1.3 seconds left that sealed Meraclo's 80-78 win en route to capturing the franchise's first-ever PBA championship on Sunday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Showing nerves of steel, Newsome scored nine of his team-high 15 points in the final period, including the title-clinching shot that saved the Bolts from a near collapse, and into its maiden league title since joining the PBA in 2010-11.
