Meralco built a double-digit spread in the fourth period but had to weather San Miguel Beer's last-gasp rally to eke out a pulsating 92-88 win and move within the cusp of winning the franchise's first title in the PBA on Friday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Chris Newsome nailed two crucial foul shots with 6.2 seconds to go after watching the Beermen uncork a 7-0 blast inside the last three minutes to close in at 87-90.
