Alas Pilipinas bagged the bronze after sweeping Australia, 25-13, 25-21, 25-20, in the 22nd Princess Cup U18 Women's Southeast Asian Volleyball Championship at Nakhon Pathom in Thailand on Thursday.
After bowing to Indonesia, 22-25, 18-25, 19-25, last Wednesday, Alas Pilipinas bounced back and made sure to conclude the tournament with a podium finish.
The Taka Minowa-coached squad asserted its dominance in the first frame, 23-13, as Kimberly Rubin and Adrao Jaila sealed the set with back-to-back kills.
In the second frame, Australia rallied to cut the Philippines' lead to two, 23-21, but Ashley Nicole Macalinao made consecutive power hits to fend off Australia's attempt to tie the count.
Australia made the run in the third set and tied the count at 18-all but Alas Pilipinas dominated the set the rest of the way to secure the victory and the third place finish.
